CAMERALISM BEYOND THE GERMANIC WORLD

ERNEST LLUCH
Universidad de Barcelona

The influence of cameralism beyond the Germanic world has been forgotten, underrated or simply not studied. The influence on cameralism by relatively equivalent economicsts -Forbonnais, Genovesi, Necker and Steuart- has been somewhat studied, but much less than those of physiocracy or Adam Smith. In addition to studying the respective influences in both directions, it is necessary to analize to what extreme the similanties are considerable between the four previously cited, late, liberal, mercantilists and the cameralists, Bielfeld, Justi, and Sonnenfelds. The study of these three perspectives can break down the dual scheme between the cosmopolitan positions -physiocracy and Smith- and other isolated positions, whether cameralism or mercantilism.

Keywords: cameralism, mercantilism, physiocracy.
