This study analyses the profile of poverty amongst young people in Spain from a multidimensional perspective. This approach entails the estimation of poverty risks, material deprivation indicators and an educational exclusion indicator. Material deprivation indicators refer to deficiencies in a dwelling’s conditions, to defaulting on one’s payments and the non-affordability of basic equipment. We analyse a sample of young adults from the Spanish section of EU-SILC. The methodology used consists of discrete dependent variable models and count data models. The risk of poverty, material deprivation and educational exclusion are strongly influenced by household composition, educational attainment and labour market status as well as disability and nationality.
